In this tutorial, XFEM crack growth in a pressure vessel is simulated using Abaqus. The pressure vessel geometry was imported from SolidWorks due to modeling difficulties in Abaqus. The vessel is made of aluminum, and the simulation applies traction–separation laws (Maxps) combined with power law evolution to predict crack growth. The figures below show selected results from the simulation.
