This video presents a numerical study of projectile impacts on a fluid-filled container. All components are modeled as three-dimensional parts. The projectile is made of steel, while the container is made of aluminum. To predict damage propagation, Johnson-Cook plasticity and damage models are applied to both metal parts. The fluid (water) is represented using the Us–Up equation of state and simulated with the Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics (SPH) method to capture its behavior. An explicit procedure is used, which is appropriate for high-velocity impact analysis. Figures from the simulation are shown below.
