In this video, the simulation of three-dimensional crack growth in a concrete slab using the XFEM technique in Abaqus is presented. The concrete part is modeled as a three-dimensional structure with traction–separation behavior defined in the material properties. To study crack growth under static loading, the XFEM procedure with a planar crack was selected. During the analysis, the crack initiates and then propagates, leading to concrete fracture. Figures from the simulation are shown below.
