Workshop: Simulation Ballfilled With Air Impact To The Water In Abaqus

In this tutorial, the impact of an air‑filled ball on water is simulated step by step in Abaqus. The ball is modeled using shell elements with a hyperelastic material. Internal pressure, external pressure, and air behavior are defined using the Fluid Cavity technique.

Water is modeled with Eulerian elements, and the Us–Up equation is applied. An explicit analysis procedure is used because it is suitable for fast, highly dynamic events. During impact, the ball penetrates the water surface, causing a sudden change in the fluid cavity pressure and volume.
